DPH mode selectors improve laser beam quality

DPH mode selectors were successfully tested with a multi-mode semiconductor laser. Inserting the DPH mode selector into the cavity as an output mirror decreased the number of transverse modes from 10 to 1, beam divergence from 20 to 4.8 degrees, and the laser spectral width from 4 to 0.4 nm.

Ten-mm-long nano-spectroscope with spectral spacing 0.015nm

Several nano-spectroscopes for the visible band with spectral channel spacing up to 0.015 nm were fabricated and successfully tested. This is an important milestone for Nano-Optic Devices.

The devices are micro-lithographically produced on small chips (10 x 5 x 1 mm3). Commercially available conventional spectroscopes of the same resolution are several orders of magnitude larger and heavier.

New high-resolution devices can be used for Raman spectrometry, laser wavelength monitoring and stabilization, and other applications. This result opens new ways in the development of planar integrated lightwave circuits and confirms the great potential of the disruptive DPH technology.
