The DPH device configuration is calculated, optimized, and simulated in a computer and then implemented by microlithography or nano-imprinting means on a surface of a planar optical waveguide, fabricated on a standard wafer. A great advantage of the DPH is adaptation of existing well-developed methods for fabrication of electronic integrated circuits to integrated Photonic Lightwave Circuits (PLC). This simplifies mass production of integrated photonic devices and reduces the cost.
